Nine Days

PQ7071 - JUL 07, 2017 to JUL 15, 2017
PQ7081 - AUG 14, 2017 to AUG 22, 2017

Day 1 Cornwall, ON –
Today we travel through Eastern Ontario. Mid afternoon we stop in Kingston and enjoy a guided tour of this city by the water, including a drive through of the Royal Military College grounds. We continue to Cornwall for our first night.

Day 2 Quebec City, QC
This morning we are off to Quebec City for an early afternoon arrival. It will seem as though you are stepping back in time as we tour Old Quebec. (B)

Day 3 Tadoussac, QC
We leave this vibrant city and travel to Montmorency Falls. At 275 ft high and 150 ft wide, this natural wonder is the highest falls in Quebec and 98 ft higher than Niagara Falls. Continuing a scenic route along the St. Lawrence River, we make our way to the historic community of Tadoussac, situated at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and Saguenay Rivers. This afternoon we set out onto the St. Lawrence River on a Whale Watch Cruise to get a glimpse of these graceful giants. For thousands of years the Beluga, Humpback and Fin whales have come to the St. Lawrence River to spend the summer feeding on the rich marine life before migrating to the Atlantic Ocean in the fall. Later you have free time to explore this picturesque community. This evening prepare your appetites for a delicious buffet dinner in the dining room of this historic hotel. (B,D)

Day 4 Matane, QC
Enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast before we make our way to Saint Siméon where we board a ferry that will take us across the St. Lawrence River to Rivière-du-Loup. Lunch will be on board. We continue east entering the breathtaking Gaspé Peninsula Region. Along this scenic drive you will witness an array of unique characteristics found nowhere else in Quebec. Our overnight accommodations are in Matane, set on the shore of the majestic St. Lawrence. (B,L)

Day 5 Percé, QC
Today we travel Hwy 132, one of Canada’s most scenic trails. We’ll follow around the peninsula called “Gaspé” or “Lands End” by the natives and on through the rugged scenery of Forillon National Park. As we approach the town of Gaspé you will see one of the most spectacular views on the continent- the towering cliffs overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence; the same cliffs seen by Jacques Cartier as he sailed into this bay in 1534. Here we visit the Museum of the Gaspé. Nearing the town of Percé you will have your first glimpse of the “Rock of Percé” rising like the bow of an enormous ship from the depths of the Atlantic. We check into our hotel for a two night stay. Dinner is included this evening. (B,D)

Day 6 Percé, QC
Early risers will be in for a treat as the sun rises over Percé Rock! After breakfast we begin by exploring the town of Percé. Later we enjoy a nature cruise around Bonaventure Island Sanctuary, shelter to gannets, puffins, cormorants and other species of birds. Before returning to dock, we get a close up view of Percé Rock. (B)

Day 7 Rimouski, QC
After breakfast we depart this historic area and follow the south shore of the peninsula to the community of Carleton in time for lunch. This afternoon we visit Reford Gardens in the town of Grand Métis. Designed to harmonize with the gentle hills, these exquisite gardens offer an exceptional view at every turn. Paths lead you through continuous flower gardens exhibiting over 1000 exotic species. A short drive then takes us to Rimouski for our nights lodging. (B)

Day 8 Montreal, QC
Today we continue our journey along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. We stop in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, a small town made famous for its wood carvers. You have the opportunity to see carvings created by past and present carvers as we tour the Musée des Anciens Canadiens. After lunch (on your own) we continue our scenic drive through the St. Lawrence Valley to Montreal for the night. Farewell Dinner included this evening. (B,D)

Day 9 Home
