Victorian Christmas, Christmas Lights, Shows and displays

NC7121 - NOV 28 to DEC 03, 2018

Day 1 Dayton, OH
This morning we set out on a Christmas extravaganza making our way to Dayton for the night.

Day 2 Asheville, NC
This morning, feel part of a beloved Christmas tradition as we pay a visit to the Cincinnati Museum to see the Duke Energy Holiday Train Exhibit. Started in 1946 in partnership with the Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad, the display grew along with the railroad and in 2011, was gifted to Cincinnati Museum Center to ensure the trains and beautiful historic displays would stay in the area for all to enjoy. We continue a scenic drive through the hills of Kentucky and on to Asheville NC where we check into our hotel for a two night stay. Later this evening a short drive takes us to Shadracks Christmas Wonderland to see the world’s largest drive-through, fully synchronized, LED Christmas light and music show of its kind! (B)

Day 3 Asheville,
Mid morning we visit Biltmore Estate Conservatory where an explosion of vibrant color greets you. Each room showcases a different color and display scheme. Imagine pink, burgundy, orange, and marble poinsettias. The exhibit room is a winter wonderland of white blooms, silver-blue foliage, and more. Later, some free time for lunch and shopping at Biltmore Estates, Antler Village. Here you can also enjoy an intimate look at the family that created Biltmore through the exhibition, The Biltmore Legacy: The Vanderbilts at Home and Abroad and enjoy a tour and sampling of the Estates own wines. Later we sit down to a delicious dinner at the Deer Park Restaurant before returning to Biltmore House for a Candlelight Tour. How do you decorate America's largest private home for Christmas? It takes months of planning, dozens of Fraser fir trees, miles of ribbon, red and white poinsettias by the truckload, and thousands of ornaments that culminates with the arrival of a jaw-dropping 35-foot Fraser fir tree in the Banquet Hall! George Vanderbilt opened his Biltmore home to family and friends on Christmas Eve 1895 and nowhere is the feeling of a Victorian Christmas more beautifully interpreted. Vanderbilt's descendants carry on their great grandfather's tradition of holiday hospitality making Christmas at Biltmore one of the Southeast's most beloved holiday traditions (B,D)

Day 4 Charlotte, NC
This morning a leisurely drive takes us to Charlotte where we’ll take a walk through history at the Billy Graham Library and Museum, designed to reflect Billy Graham’s journey from a humble farm boy to an international ambassador of God’s love. Wander through the Graham homestead and browse through the many books and gifts in Ruth’s Attic. While here, we enjoy a light lunch on your own at The Graham Brothers Dairy Bar.
This evening enjoy a delicious dinner at NarroWay Theatre followed by the inspirational performance. Before arriving at the theatre we make a stop at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the 8,000 sq. ft. Orchid Conservatory and walk along the meandering paths of the outside gardens all elegantly decorated with light displays for the holiday season. (B,D)

The worlds only authorized replica of the Vatican’s Christmas crèche on display in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, it measures 64 feet wide, 42 feet high, 36 feet deep, and weighs approximately 66,000 pounds and includes a total of twenty life-size figures.
